Starting Kindergarten is such an important step in a child’s life and it is a year that they never forget. As each child begins their primary school journey at St Gerard’s, a buddy from Year 6 is organised for them. This buddy takes special care of the younger child as they settle into school life and most of all, the Year 6 buddies become a friendly face in the playground. The Kindergarten children look forward to meeting their buddies and over the year a strong friendship develops.
The senior students take their buddy role seriously. They support their Kinder buddies in developing friendships and also by assisting them to play games in the playground. It is a very successful program and has great benefits for both the Kindergarten child and the senior student.
